The upcoming Ford Capri is making significant strides toward showroom readiness, as pre-production prototypes are now taking to the roads, offering a glimpse of what the new electric vehicle (EV) might look like upon its anticipated release next year.

Immediately evident are the characteristic proportions associated with the MEB platform. This translates to a broad track, an extended wheelbase, and concise overhangs, complemented by sizable wheels and well-defined wheel arches. Beneath the discernible camouflage, the Capri reveals a sleek roofline and an upright tail, presenting an overall profile reminiscent of the upcoming Cupra Tavascan, which shares the MEB architecture.

The front end features a robust and upright nose, showcasing headlights that Ford has previously hinted will echo the iconic double-roundel lighting signature found on classic Capri models. Additional elements include a modest lower grille opening and strategically placed inlets for air-curtains designed to enhance airflow around the front wheel arches. These air-curtains exhibit subtle bulging and may incorporate crossover-style cladding, offering the option for body-colored or contrasting finishes.

The rear of the vehicle subtly exposes a full-width rear light bar, while the C-pillar pays homage to the original Capri with a C-shaped rear quarter glass, providing a distinctive touch unique to Ford.

Moving inside, the new Capri's interior draws inspiration from elements already showcased in the upcoming Explorer SUV. Characterized by a clean and minimalist design, the cabin is dominated by a prominent 15-inch portrait-oriented touchscreen, complemented by a smaller driver's display. Following a similar approach to the Explorer, the Capri is expected to feature a traditional center console.
